Recharge your phone… Recharge yourself
How many times a day do we jump high and low to make sure that our smartphones are recharged, yet we don’t always give that same love and care for ourselves?
Or, if we do, then how often? Isn’t it funny that today’s culture rather ‘waste’ precious hours of their lives staring at the screen of the ever popular smartphones even when eyes are droopy and the body is screaming for rest, instead of switching the phone off at night and having a peaceful nights sleep?
Now imagine if we give ourselves that same love and care to ourselves instead of our beloved mobile devices.
Imagine how refreshed the mind and body would feel if you gave it more rest or a slight energy booster every time your body felt weak or tired. And I am not referring to an energy drink every now and then.
Okay so perhaps you might be working long hours, maybe you are a business owner or a parent and don’t have enough time to rest. That is understandable, but there are certain things which you can do to improve your ‘resting patterns’, to ensure you are actually getting proper sleep and that the body is feeling good and ready to take on the next day.
Firstly, stop with the aimless scrolling!
We are so used to having tons of information stored at our finger tips that we are so accustom to continuous scrolling on social apps. And it may seem so ‘cool’ and somewhat normal to be in touch with the latest news and see what our friends and families are up to. But it is also a huge time waster, it can be very draining on the body and it is definitely not good for your eyes, especially if you don’t have the blue light app or feature on your phone.
Set aside an hour a day (at most) for viewing your social media apps and posts. Even if you do this for intervals of 20 minutes, 3 times a day or half an hour twice a day. That is actually sufficient time to still use your phone and be updated in your social world and still give yourself time without your phone. The same applies to people who are social media marketers or digital marketers, because you would be monitoring social media accounts as your day job as well. So it would be good to actually ‘schedule’ time to use your own accounts and then just shut off from the online world.
Let your friends and family know that you will be only using social apps at certain times so they are aware not to expect messages or responses from you at just anytime.
Also, if you do have a landline number, do provide that to close friends and family to contact you in cases of emergency. We have become a culture of people who feel that there will be an ‘emergency’ at any time, so we very carefully keep our smartphones next to us at all times… This isn’t good for the well being of the mind and body either.
Switch your phone off, or on airplane mode when you need to recharge it, and while you are resting. Don’t let there be an ‘option’ to check social media at just any time of day or night.
Drink plenty of water in the morning, evening and throughout the day. And then take dedicated time to just rest yourself while your phone is also ‘resting.’
If you are a parent and don’t get enough me time to yourself or time to rest, then more the reason to switch off your phone so you will have less distractions when spending time with your family and more peaceful night’s sleep with your mobile devices switched off.
Do give this a try and let me know how it goes in the comments below and check out my instagram profile for more cool inspirational content.
Lots of love!
