With constant change in weather patterns and winter coming up soon here in the Southern Hemisphere, many people are suffering with dry skin. And sometimes skin can be sensitive to everyday creams and over the counter prescriptions that natural remedies are a must!
In 2013 my skin became so sensitive to just about every single skin product that I had to opt for homemade, natural and DIY products to soothe and easy my skin.
This is probably why I prefer to use simple non chemical based stuff on my skin and always look for natural options as that works best for me.
So, what can you do to combat dry skin?
Option One
Rose Water Miracle Moisturiser
Rose water is extremely beneficial, easy to find in most Indian prayer shops and really cost effective!
To combat dry skin, simply dap a few drops of rose water on to your skin and massage into the skin for a few minutes.
Use a cotton wood facial pad to remove excess rose water on your face.
Your skin will soon feel fresher, lighter and moisturised.
Option Two
A coconut and banana fest
Oils play a major role in providing moisture to both skin and hair and well banana is more than just an awesome fruit but it is also great for general heath as well as skin!
Make a face pack (or apply wherever needed) using banana and coconut oil. Smash the banana and mix in the coconut oil to form a paste.
Apply on skin as a face mask and rinse of after a few minutes. Your skin will start to feel moisturised and softer!
Option Three
A spicy affair!
We all known (or should know) of the endless health benefits of turmeric. And the combination of neem and turmeric works wonders for the skin both externally in the form of soaps, skin masks and also internally to remove toxins and restore health.
Create a face mask to combat dry skin by combining a quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder, with 1 teaspoon of neem powder, and mix with water or alternately use almond oil to form a paste.
Apply to face or areas affected by dry skin and rinse off after 5 minutes or before mask gets fully dry.
